What’s Bugging You? When Lice Attack Silently

You get that itchy twitchy feeling
You start rocking and a reeling
Soon your arms and legs are flapping

–          Bobby Hendricks (Itchy, Twitchy Feeling)

Life is always keeping us on our toes. The constant hustle and bustle of the city life, running around, trying to reach work on time, and dealing with stressful projects that slowly suck the energy out of us. These are some of the problems that keep us awake at night, eating away at our conscious until we manage to get rid of them. Then we’re faced with another problem that needs to be tended to.

It constantly eats away at us, keeping us up at night, and bugging us everyday. But these are not the only things that can bug us. While some problems are small, they can add a mountain of stress to our lives. One of these is head lice.

Head lice are not something new. They’ve been plaguing us for thousands of years, with scientists believing that head lice spread around 30,000 years ago.

Despite them being a common problem, they have a negative connotation attached to them. If someone has lice, most people believe it’s because that individual lacks personal hygiene.

But the truth is, head lice don’t have a preference. Short, long, thin, or thick hair, lice don’t care. They only have one goal: to feed on human blood.

When Head Lice Attack

Unfortunately, head lice are silent attackers. Most people are unaware they have a problem until it’s too late. While the first sign is an itchy scalp, most people ignore the symptoms because they take it as something to do with dry skin or dandruff.

Whether you’re a busy CEO of a company, or a waiter at a café, nobody wants to deal with head lice. Not only is the problem difficult to deal with, if the problem comes out in public, you’re left dealing with an embarrassing and awkward situation.

A female louse can lay up to 10 eggs a day. These nits hatch within 4-6 days and become adults within a week. The process then restarts. Before you know it, you’re left dealing with hundreds of critters in a month!

Even if one nit is left behind, it finds a way to continue the legacy of its forefathers.

Dealing With Head Lice: What You Should Do

It’s understandable that head lice are difficult to deal with.  However, they don’t have to take up all your time and energy. There are a few simple steps that you need to take in order to get rid of the problem.

The first step you need to take is to stop investing in over-the-counter products and home remedies. Over-the-counter products contain lindane, a harmful pesticide that is used for removing deadly insects from farms. However, the pesticide has been declared carcinogenic and reports published by the FDA show that it has led to seizures, disabilities and even death.

And while home remedies are thought to be better, they can leave your hair brittle and dry. They are also ineffective, with no proof of them being effective against head lice.

But there’s no need to fret! Lice removal salons such as ours use natural treatments to address the problem. We use special combs to take care of the problem, making sure nits and lice from each strand of hair are removed.

In addition, our services include in-home treatments, free head lice screening, and home inspection services. There’s not a critter that can escape our experts’ eyes!
